Selling for Entrepreneurs

What do you think is the best way to get new business...SELL...SELL...SELL!

While social networking is the hottest thing, nothing takes the place of good old fashion sales.  Everyone wants leads and they are trying everything to get them.  What very few entrepreneurs are doing is selling.  Larger corporations are opening up their hiring of sales people.  They understand the need for increasing their sales presence during tough times.

How can you increase your selling activity in a small or larger company:

  • make sales everyones goal

  • have management meet with existing customers.  Even the ...

More Money For The Big Boys
By Ramblin Rose
Guest Blogger

By now you have all heard that GMAC Finance needs more money.  I don't want to bore you with all the details, and if you don't know them then you are part of the problem.  What I do want to talk about is the need for small business people to have access to capitol.

When my friends in small business lose a few thousand dollars in a quarter it is bad.  They have to work with their vendors, make sure they continue to run their business and most times, it means they have not ...

The Entrepreneurial Journey
The Entrepreneurial Journey
By Marc Gilenson, Author “the entrepreneurial Way”
Once you have gone through it, you understand and accept the phases of entrepreneurship.  You Experience each step and accept the stress that accompanies each phase.  With today’s economic environment, there is lots of stress and lots of regrets and second guessing decisions.  It is o.k. to feel the pain of your plans not working out; it is not o.k. to suffer from your pain.  What this means is that you can feel the pain, acknowledge the pain, accept the pain and then get over the pain.  Do not allow the pain ...

The Federal Government Has Business For Entrepreneurs

Timing is everything.

Can you imagine if you invested heavily in real estate and then completely sold all your holdings at the top in early 2005?  Or how about investing in dot-com companies starting in 1998 and selling your holdings when the NASDAQ peaked on March 10, 2000?

Now is the time to invest in learning how to win business from the US federal government.  Notice I did not say city, county or state.  With the stimulus money adding $787 billion dollars on top of $520 billion that the federal government will spend this year, there is no better time ...

This is the time to put your sales plan together
If you own your own business or work for someone else, you are in control of your sales destiny.

If you work for yourself: you must look at the resources you have and identify how and if  you will increase your revenue or protect yourself from losing more.  If your market is shrinking you must first protect your revenue by going to your existing customers and confirming that they will stay with you this year.  You must get an honest read of their level of commitment to you and their projections for using your business so  you can budget accordingly.

If you ...

Make sure your processes can handle social networking
So you use twitter, facebook, and linkedin and feel you are developing new ways to stay in touch and get business.

Before you begin using new technology, remember, great technology won't fix a bad process.
If  you and your employees receive or send hundreds of e-mails just to cover your ass you have a bad process.
If you send text messages to your sales team while they are on the road and they check it during client visits or sales calls,  you have a bad process.
If you don't update your distribution lists on your e-mail system, you have a bad system.
If you ...

Is The Real Economy Doing Better
What's going on with the real economy?  I understand all the experts on television and  in the trade rags are telling us that things are going better, however, are these pundits talking to the real business people?

The real business people I am speaking to all have the same comments, they feel that things are getting better, but they don't see it happening right now.  What we all need to realize is that during tough times and even during a potential depression there are always opportunities.

The health care issues are going to effect us, but only for the better.  Almost everyone of ...

Choosing The Right Bank

Choosing the Right Bank for Your Business
By Kurt Valmond
Sr. Branch Sales Manager and Assistant Vice-President
Amtrust Bank

When choosing the right bank, most people will tell you they chose their current bank for a  new one because it was close, or they’ve always banked there, or their parents banked there, or something like that.

The truth is, as a business owner, choosing a bank should take on a more diligent approach.  Because different banks have different strengths and weaknesses, a bank that may be right for your neighbor, or your parents or your personal needs, may not be the right ...
